Spurs overwhelm Timberwolves, come back to win 115-130.

Leonard's highlight reel dunk sealed the comeback.
It did not look pretty as Minnesota let loose its wolf pack in San Antone, as the young guns went up by a mighty 19 points after a 44-30 point blitz in the second quarter, edging out the Spurs 23-20 in the first period. The Spurs came out cold on 1-8 shooting, digging a hole early.

A spirited third quarter, 42-29: SA, saw everything go the Spurs Way as Coach Popovich ordered tougher defensive adjustments to ward off Dario Saric (30 points) and Robert Covington's (15 points, 3-7 3PT) hot shooting. Suspense ensued as Pau Gasol fouled out, yet relief set in once Karl-Anthony Towns (11 points, 10 rebounds) was eliminated.

Weary but within striking distance, the defending champions went on an 18-0 run to begin the fourth quarter and they never looked back, winning 115-130. Iman Shumpert (17 points, 3-8 3PT) had splashed in a tre and Leonard nabbed three steals as did Avery Bradley. The Claw finished with 33 points, 6 rebounds on 3-6 3PT and 13-21 overall. Contributing strongly was Skal Labissiere, especially after Rudy Gay drew two early fouls, with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Dejounte Murray notched 19 points and 7 assists, not letting a fierce block by Towns scorch his spirits, making 5-5 from the charity stripe being aggressive toward the twine. Patty Mills (12 points, 8 assists) banged in a 3PTer to crush Minnesota's comeback hopes, with the Spurs closing out the 4th Quarter 38-19 in a huge rally.

To spark the comeback, Joakim Noah banged down low and commanded 13 rebounds, also showcasing his court vision with 7 assists and swatting a shot late in the third quarter. With the champions at their breaking point, the Timberwolves leave Texas after a 5-13 shooting night by Andrew Wiggins, a 2-8 showing by Jeff Teague and 2-7 by Derrick Rose. The Spurs made 20 free throws to Minnesota's 27-33 and overtook the field goal percentage with 55% to 49% after shooting 43% at halftime. The Spurs demanded 70 points in the paint with 17 offensive rebounds and 31 defensive rebounds, its bench with a 58-35 rout of the Timberwolves.

A remarkable comeback now in the books, the Spurs earn a 62nd win on the season only to put the streak back on the line, hosting the Golden State Warriors next in their final battle of the regular season before an all-too-likely showdown in the playoffs. "Well, they just kept fighting until the last second on every possession defensively. They hit us hard, and it woke us up. We entered attack mode, and my guys were able to pull out the victory by doing everything it took," Coach Popovich told TNT's David Aldridge post-game on the court.
