Spurs best Warriors in thrilling clash, 127-124.

Gasol blocked Thompson at the buzzer, sealing the win.

With both western conference titans vying for the victory, as the Spurs 27-game win streak teetered on the line, San Antone was able to muster the strength to overcome the Golden State Warriors. Golden State went on its trademark run in the second quarter, trying to pull away, but San Antonio fought back, forced to endure a stronger storm in the final quarter, as the Warriors rallied to a 7-PT advantage with three minutes left to go.

The defending champions recovered off Kawhi Leonard's and-1, and two bombs by Patty Mills. This thrilling showdown turned into a 1-PT war, shot for shot. Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson nailed clutch 3PTers to stick in it, but Iman Shumpert boldly returned the stroke. Next, Rudy Gay made two gutsy layups for the 109-108 lead. Shumpert's fierce defense on a layup by Thompson led to the shot of the game, as Mills pulled up for the would-be 3PT dagger, giving the Spurs a four point spread.

A free throw battle ensued, but Leonard and Dejounte Murray came through for San Antonio. The final play of the game featured Thompson's last-ditch 3PT shot getting blocked by Pau Gasol, epitomizing the tough defensive stand by the Spurs on the road. Golden State struggled to match the defensive pressure, with Demarcus Cousins fouling out in the final minute. In this all-too-familiar war, the score was taut throughout: 30-31, GS; 28-27, SA; 26-26 and 43-40, SA. Steph Curry and Patty Mills had their own mini-war of long range brilliance, combining for a dozen 3PTers. Curry had 22 points with 9 assists (8-18 FG%). Cousins had 18 points, 13 rebounds with 3 blocks before fouling out. Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson failed to take over the game, as did Kawhi Leonard in the first half (but boy did he, in the second half). Durant and Thompson combined for 33 points, with Durant notching 6 assists and Klay banging home a trio of threes (missing six others). Meanwhile, The Claw commanded 44 game-high points, with 10 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 blocks on 16-27 from the field. Andre Iguodala had 12 points, going just 2-7 from long range. Jordan Bell had 10 points, 10 rebounds; with Draymond Green's modest 7 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

Patty Mills blasted the Warriors with 25 points and 7 assists. Rudy Gay had 13 points and 3 steals. Pau Gasol had 13 points with a total of 4 blocks, including a clutch 3PTer as the Spurs fell down by three in the perilous final minutes. Shumpert nailed 13 points, and Murray had just 7 due to foul trouble woes. Joakim Noah and Kyle O'Quinn combined for 10 rebounds, and the Warriors committed 19 turnovers as the Spurs dominated the free throw line. Golden State impressed from long range as per usual, going 44% with 18 three-pointers. Both juggernauts shot above 50%, but the Spurs bench overwhelmed Golden State's 57-44.
