Spurs earn 10th straight win after Patty Mills game winner, 102-105.

Leonard & Mills overtook the fierce Pistons in crunch time.
It was Kawhi Leonard sparking then spearheading a run and Patty Mills pulling up from deep to win the game at the buzzer that awarded the Spurs a tough tenth consecutive win, overcoming a mighty effort by the visitor Detroit Pistons, led by Andre Drummond's monstrous presence on the glass and Blake Griffin's dexterous repertoire.

In the narrow loss, Drummond had 22 points with 17 rebounds to go with 2 blocks. Blake Griffin had 11 rebounds with 23 points to go with 3 blocks and 2 steals. Reggie Bullock had 16 points, Stanley Johnson had 12 and Reggie Jackson had 10 assists with nine points.

After a double team nearly nabbed a steal for the Spurs, Blake Griffin got the opportunity to shoot, a miss that rolled then just barely fell off the rim with 4.7s left, the onus fell upon Patty Mills. "Right between the eyes!" Kevin Harlan commented from the sidelines, as the home crowd erupted with jubilation.

"I told Pop, give it to Patty," Leonard told reporters, having not been exactly clutch on potential game-winners this season. Kawhi did the heavy lifting here, though, with 37 monstrous points and 8 rebounds (15-21 FG%, 4-7 3PT) with four steals. Mills finished strongly, including the pull-up 3PT dagger over Reggie Jackson at the buzzer, for 21 points and 8 assists making five long shots.

Rudy Gay had 18 points in the victory with 7 rebounds; Avery Bradley had 11.

Both teams shot well, with Detroit at 56% and San Antone at 49%, including from long range as they combined for nineteen. The fast break war was dead even, but the Spurs narrowly won the paint. Notably, the Detroit bench crushed it 25-14 and won the assists column 32-24 in a disappointing loss.

Before the run by San Antonio, Blake Griffin had soared through the air for a reverse dunk that gave Detroit a seven-point lead with two minutes left to play. Kawhi Leonard broke past the 3PT line and fired, then Leonard made a tough layup off glass falling off balance, 97-99. Reggie Jackson coughed the ball up after a bad pass, forced to watch Avery Bradley cross-over Bullock for the game-tying drive. It didn't last, as Detroit hit a corner three-pointer, 102-99, and Mills missed his own on the other end with the final minute now underway. A steal attempt led to a foul, but Leonard stole the inbound pass, shot the ball to a streaking Mills (who missed again), with the Claw grabbing the rebound and his own 3PT attempt rattling in (102-all).
